Dental Nurse, 300 credits

The dental nurse plays a central part in the dental care team. Working as a dental nurse is a varied job and involves constant meetings with new people with different needs in different situations.

The demand for qualified dental nurses has increased and there is at present a certain lack, which is expected to increase further in the next few years. A retirement wave is upon us, giving new dental nurses an opportunity to enter the job market.

Programme contents
The programme is tailored to meet the professions need for skilled dental nurses, who after their training have the required knowledge and skills. As a dental nurse you will be part of a team along with dentists, dental hygienists and dental technicians, and you will assist at the examinations and treatments.

Dental nurses have in recent years received more independent tasks. They can work with oral hygiene/dental health information, polishing, dental check-ups, imprinting and fluoride treatments. Dentists can also delegate tasks to the dental nurse, such as giving local anesthesia, taking x-rays and performing simple fillings. Working as a dental nurse is diversified and fun, with plenty of patient contact.

A big part of the practical training takes place in the dental room at Tranås Utbildningscentrum. Moreover, a third of the training is located in different dental clinics for "Lärande i arbete" (learning at work), LIA, where you will get to put your knowledge into practice.
